Several residents have complained about difficulty driving on Sylvan Way, difficulty leaving their driveways, and difficulty accessing mailboxes due to parked vehicles on Sylvan Way. Residents have also expressed concerns that emergency vehicles would have difficulty navigating the street. The Glenbrooke HOA would like to remind residents of common courtesies for parking in Glenbrooke. Some basic recommendations to be followed:
- No unlicensed (vehicles without valid license plates) are allowed on streets or driveways. Any unlicensed vehicle should be removed immediately, unless the board has approved a short-term exception.
- Each household should try to limit parking on street to one vehicle per household. Other vehicles should be parked in the garage or in the driveway.
- Short-term exceptions for guests during the day or evening are allowed. Overnight parking should follow the one vehicle on street guideline outlined above.
- Parking is preferred to be directly in front of the resident’s house and not in front of their neighbors. Try to stagger parking so that both sides of street are not blocked at same time.
- When parking, try to think of how you neighbor will leave their driveway. Parking directly across from a driveway should be avoided.
- When parking, try to think of access to mailboxes. The post office needs to be able to get to the mailbox without leaving their vehicle
- Car maintenance including oil changes, wheel/tire repair, and engine work shall not be performed on the street.
The Glenbrooke HOA appreciates residents understanding of the recommendations. If you have questions, please contact a board member.
